Stanwell is probably the closest place of residency to Heathrow Airport and is actually quite a surprisingly pleasant little place - this High Street pub of, is also surprisingly OK. With fairly traditional, slightly shabby décor, the separate nonsmoking conservatory area is actually quite smart. It's very much a locals' bar with not an air steward or flight commuter in sight. Drinks are cheap, and the choice of wine is all right - bit unfortunate they disappoint on the beer/ale front. Food is notably cheap. This is surely a place to drop by if you've misjudged your journey and have time to kill before a flight - especially when you compare the prices to what they'll rip you off with at any of the bars at the terminals. The locals are friendly - and so is the big soppy pub dog!
