how to find it:

The nearest station is Denmark Hill. Exit the station, turn left and then take a right down Denmark Hill. Cross over the road then take a left down Bessemer Road, walk down it and then a right down Cutcombe Road. You'll find the Sun and Doves at the end of Cutcombe Road on Coldharbour Lane. Alternatively, buses 35 and 45 will do the job.

Now rather a veteran on the Camberwell pub scene, the Sun & Doves is a perfect venue of choice for the area's arty residents when they get thirsty. This one was offering its wall space to artists long before such a thing became common place in the capital's pubs and it also manages to fit in film screenings, live music and a quiz night. A good range of drinks are on offer, and there's a nice beer garden out the back to enjoy them in when the sun deigns to shine on SE5. Minor quibbles can be made on the pricing of the fare on offer, but this independently-minded pub is definitely worth a look.

Went in on Sunday afternoon. One of the staff was wandering around talking loudly about being bored and how they should be allowed to go home. Others seemed to be just playing around. Drinks selection pretty dull, toilets blocked and poorly lit. Plenty of graffiti in there too. Probably should have said something but they way the staff were behaving I suspect there wasn't anyone in charge. Used to think it was a bit better than most pubs in Camberwell but many of the others have now got there act together and are worth a look.
