Over the years, No.2 Crucifix Lane has hosted a variety of bars, all after an apparently elusive crowd, for none have survived particularly long. Suchard, we assume, hopes to change that, even if we'll reserve judgment for the time being. Set behind the wrong end of Tooley Street, overshadowed by fantastic Victorian railway arches, the location looks like it should appear in a gritty urban drama. Suchard, however, is a rare thing: a Thai pub. Indeed, it calls itself a freehouse (the sister restaurant is around the corner), but it still provides Thai food, if that's your wont. The interior isn't great however, looking marginally tacky and rather bar-like, with much of the flooring made up of metal sheeting. There's a vast array of forgettable lagers, but the staff are courteous and friendly and a cracking pool table made our visit here pass with enough pleasure to award a two pint rating.
