On the side-streets of Chiswick, Bollo certainly blends well into it's pleasant surroundings. Passed the attractive exterior, inside has a distinct pubby look, with some nice original features, wood panels and an area with comfy banquette seating. With a couple of ales to compliment the usual lagery suspects and a Wednesday quiz night, this could easily be a successful modern take on the cosy, local's pub. However the omnipresence of food takes some of the shine off for us. With many tables reserved and even more with cutlery on them, just coming in for a drink can be an underwhelming experience. In the gastropub galaxy there are innumerable variations and styles to choose from, but for us Bollo veers a little too close to the restaurant end of the spectrum to a be a truly good, honest pub.
