Leeds city centre can boast an abundance of excellent bars, with a variety of styles, but of its traditional pubs you'll struggle to find better than the Victoria. The splendour of its interior can't fail to impress, from the grand old fireplace in the main room with its etched mirror and clock, the row of private booths opposite the bar and subtle touches such as the cornicing atop the walls. There is, however, more to admire than just the surroundings, with an excellent value food menu and four guest ales on tap alongside regular Timothy Taylor's and Tetley. Its size also means there is a good chance of getting a seat (don't forget to try the two back rooms as well) and don't think it'll just be full of old ale drinkers -- it seems that the appeal is universal.
