Try as we might, we still can't enter an Ember Inns pub without the impression we've entered a budget hotel. The furnishings, hushed atmosphere and by-the-book service always result in us thinking we're going to be handed at a room key the bar instead of some drinks. Oddly though, a pub with such an air is oddly appropriate in Mill Hill, a part of the capital which has a slightly anonymous feel to it. No doubt it does a job for some of the locals, but if you've come all the way to Mill Hill, then frankly you deserve something better than this. And with the off tasting beer not up to scratch, we've brought this one down to 1 pinter.
