picture of Verulam Arms
The Verulam Arms is a well regarded little pub tucked on the back streets slightly away from the town centre. One of the more gastropubby places in St Albans it still looks and feels like a pub, even if it often seems that the majority of people are eating. Still, with several good ales on tap and a large pleasant beer garden we made the most of the warm weather. We would like to sample the roast, but sadly they - like most other pubs in the area - stop serving at 3pm, which has so far kept us from doing so and doesn't bode well if you're planning an afternoon pub crawl. Still, its a nice place and one of these days we'll manage to arrive a bit earlier.
