The Victory, Mersea Island  

West Mersea is a charming marina and fishing village famous for its seafood and is located on Mersea Island, just off the coast of Essex. The Victory fits its into this relaxed environment quite well and with an imposing frontage and huge beer garden its deceptively big from the outside. Inside is a little less impressive, alas; its a little too modern in appearance and a little too much of the space is taken up by a restaurant, while the drinking area looks - appropriately enough - like the bar annex of a restaurant. Still, what it does have is excellent food, a couple of ales, friendly service and a good view over the marina. Perfect place for a warm, sunny day its certainly a pub worth visiting if you've taken a day trip to Mersea.
