how to find it:
Devons Road DLR is practically over the road. The pub is just behind the small park on the north side of Devons Road

It's slim pickin's round these parts of East London nowadays for a good quality pub and a journey through the back streets will find a litany of hostelries either boarded up or converted into flats. As such, the Old Duke of Cambridge comes as a bit of a relief. Attractive and well maintained from the outside, the inside doesn't disappoint either with plant-filled windowsills and a semi-traditional style of decoration (even if the nite-club style bar stools looked rather out of place). Definitely a local's pub, the clientele was still mixed enough that we weren't made to feel unwelcome - perhaps because most people were preoccupied with the football. We didn't spot any food but on the drinks front, the lone ale (Spitfire) was reasonably kept. If we had to gripe, the need to two mid-sized footy screens in such a tiny pub (of not much more than 25 seats) seemed like overkill. Nearly earning a three pint rating, if you find yourself in Devon's Road this is probably the best place for a drink.
