Pubs that try to please everybody can sometimes be found lacking, but credit to the Vauxhall Griffin - they pull it off pretty successfully. Tucked off a side street a few minutes walk from the unpleasantness of Vauxhall station, and once an underwhelming pub called 'Wyvil's', the new owners know what they're doing. Nicely decorated in a slightly shabby bohemian style, a central bar separates the comfortable main bar from the back area where you can find board games-a-plenty and a pool table. The latter space is also impressively filled with music related articles pasted over the walls, which also gives you a clue that the jukebox is above average (if slightly erring on the 'Guilty Pleasures' side of things). A lone pump of London Pride for the ale fans (along with bottles from the fridge), though you may want to give their self-proclaimed 'Best Bloody Mary in London' a try. Very reasonably priced grub and with a plethora of additional attractions too: a lively pub quiz on Tuesday nights, indie themed DJ nights on alternate Fridays, karaoke with a live band on a Saturday and Cinema nights upstairs on Sundays. Previous visits have found this place busy with a pre-clubbing crowd and it's worth noting the main bar area fills up pretty quickly. Nevertheless, at other less frenetic times the Griffin is arguably the best pub in Vauxhall.

Have your say! - only one comment, so far on this pub - why not add your own?

We've lived in Vauxhall for a number of years, and whilst theres a selection of passable places to spend an evening they range from high-end gastropubs to very 'local' (in a bad way) alehouses. The Vauxhall Griffin (since changing from Wyvil's) is a great addition to the area, and our local of choice after a long day at the shop close by, or a relaxing Sunday. They manage to cater for everyone with late nights and DJs at weekends and a brilliant jukebox!
