From Leicseter station, turn left and continue up London Road until you see Victoria Park. The pub is on the other side of the road, overlooking the park.

Life is full of surprises, which like the Old Horse is definitely a good thing. This well-maintained pub, overlooking Victoria Park, looks pleasant from the front and continues to make a good impression as you enter through the front door. Many pots and other ornaments hang down from the beams to add character, and because of its size there is usually a good chance of finding a seat. Owned by Everards, it has a selection of their ales, and proper cider (i.e not to be diluted with ice) has also been noticed on occasion. It is, though, the space at the back of the building which comes as an unexpected treat. To reach the beer garden you first pass through a small courtyard area, which has hosted a menagerie of animals and birds over the years, and now has two models of the Blues Brothers aswell. The garden itself is huge enough to accommodate a small housing estate, but the only structures to be seen are a Tardis, a children's play area, and plenty of benches.
