A pleasant escape from the chores of modern life, the Oakford Social club is a relaxed place to while away your time on a Sunday afternoon, with good food and beer (including real ales and cider) aplenty. This is a nice space that doesn't try too hard to be trendy or anything-y other than an honest pub. During the afternoon it was somewhat family friendly with unobtrusive, chilled out music (not adjectives that could be applied to the kids) and an excellent Sunday roast, but the boisterous children soon gave way to a more young-adult clientele, keen to see the evening entertainment. And there is plenty of entertainment to choose between: quiz first and third Monday, regular live bands and DJs, and even a monthly burlesque stage show, courtesy of Hot Muffins. Toilets were a little unloved, but no reason to mark down an otherwise fine establishment. There is a sister pub in New Cross, London (apparently), and the owners are shortly to open a new pub in Brixton, so we'll be trying that one out too.
