how to find it:

From the station: turn left out of the station toward the city centre and colleges. Cross over the river and follow the road round into Worcester Street, then bear right into Beaumont Street. At the end of Beaumont, turn left into the main road that is St Giles. Cross over and you'll find the pub set back from the main road on the right hand side.

Although it's in an old part of town, the Lamb and Flag has a new, modern interior, following the trend to do up old boozers. Light golden wood furniture, lots of plastic greenery and large windows don't strike us a terribly pubby. The otherwise drab interior is perked up with long trophy paddles from college rowing championships mounted on the walls. In addition to more common beers, they have on tap Skinners, Thatchers Gold Cider, Lamb and Flag Gold, Theakston Old Peculiar and Jack and Dragon Ale, which make spending time here that much more enjoyable. A word of warning: while the pub fronts onto St. Giles Street, the actual entrance is in a small cobblestone alleyway which is a popular shortcut for distracted students on bicycles, so best watch your step when leaving.
