The Hare and Hound's old-fashioned homely exterior belies a smart, contemporary interior, but you soon get over the surprise because it houses a pretty decent pub. There's a good range of Cask Marque beers on the hand pumps, with regular guests (Black Sheep being on offer when we were last in), there's food - the menu maybe a little formulaic, but we guess it works for the clientele, a decent wine list, big screen TV (refreshingly showing Top Gear and not bleeding Sky Sports) and an ATM etc etc. The service is polite, friendly and efficient and the atmosphere relaxed. There are a plenty nooks and crannies with lots of different furnishing options from squashy settees to dining tables and chairs, so you should be able to find somewhere to suit the mood of your party. A pretty comfy pub, all-in-all.
