Still fairly fresh from a recent smartening up, the Marlborough Arms has had a few alterations of late. It's going for a more grander look these days, with velvet drapes and chandeliers doing their best to bring a touch of Victoriana to proceedings. The pool tables at the back have been dispensed with, replaced with tables set with knives and forks. It's by no means a gastropub, and it's still - no matter how it's dressed up - a pub that will have UCL students filling it up (even if it now feels slightly more Senior Common Room than Student Union bar). A regular selection of beers and pub grub is available, and even though the look of the place may be slightly different, one problem pre-refit still remains: service can be a tad slow here.
