Agree with above and not with editor, have not been to one of the “events” as of yet but just nipped in for a mid week pint and the pub seemed smashing. A welcome addition to Hoxton.posted by andydalby - Friday 13th June, 2008, 9:58am
I think the editor of fancyapint has missed a trick with this one.
I was there last night and it was great. You don't come across pubs like this very often. 4 live bands played. All really good. The pub was 'nicely' busy. I ordered two tasty pizzas for friends - we enjoyed a few drinks and the atmosphere was great. The refurbishments don't distract from the fact this is a pub with a lot of history and character. I just hope that not too many people discover this little gem....posted by charlie_b4u2 - Monday 12th May, 2008, 3:43pm
A fantastic reburb - this pub was a tired old mans pub with good beer but not a lot else.
It still does a really decent pint of Pride, and I'm told there are acoustic nights, a quiz with live piano afterwards and they had a BBQ there last weekend in the sun. What more could you want from a backstreet boozer in Hoxton?!posted by Martin - Wednesday 12th March, 2008, 2:08pm
What an excellent pub, newly refurbished in February 2008, and the new bar is now back to it's splendid Victorian glory, with a cosy fire, huge and comfortable leather sofas, oak tables, and a great bar. The Fuller's London Pride and ESB are truely excellent, and well looked after, and the G&V also offer a good range of lagers and a nice wine list.
Definately worth a visit.4 comments on this pub - why not add your own?
