picture of William IVA piano in one corner, a real fire in the other and the pub cat meowing contentedly in the background - is this an untouched back street boozer we've discovered? Well, not quite, as this one's been a gastropub for a few years now. On first impressions, it appears a bit different from your usual gastro pub effort, with an all-white look to the place. Admittedly, the British flag and imposing portrait of William IV do catch the eye, although we're a bit mystified about the stuffed birds and display of pewter tankards. Off-peak, it's rather quiet, thought the upstairs restaurant may entice some of the foodies who flock to Jamie Oliver's nearby 'Fifteen'. Sadly, after favourable first impressions, the experience here has deteriorated - while it's okay, we'd much rather go to the Wenlock Arms just around the corner.
