picture of Prince AlbertAn old theatre pub that's probably not far off its next lick of paint. The formula is certainly not new - large island bar of which half is a grill / kitchen to show where your chosen dish was assembled. You could call the pub a compromise - old and new styles, an attempt to be gastro without scaring drinkers away, the music and art touch on reggae (but not exclusively), the decor invites loungers and candles, well, burn. The bar offers a mix of beers to suit the Notting Hill set - De Konninck, two varieties of Staropramen, Budweiser, Hoegaarden and Leffe, alongside Pride and Adnams ales. Though quiet, the service was a little too laid-back, though we finally got a fine Bloody Mary and even on a more recent visit - when the pub was a lot busier - the service was still very much on the slow side. We'll stick to the pubs just south of Notting Hill Gate.
