picture of MagpieLocated down a side street off Bishopsgate, the Magpie is among numerous pubs primarily catering for the after work crowd around the City. Its nice Victorian interior and pleasant landlord help it to stand out from the competition, and being just off the main drag helps to prevent it becoming quite as packed as many other places. Drinkers have the choice of four ales (including a guest) and a full food menu is served until 10pm during the week. The only drawback for the main bar area is a lack of tables to sit around, with most of the seating provided by high stools around the edge. There is an upstairs section which is worth checking out when downstairs gets crowded.
