This one's been tidied up again, and we have to say it's looking good these days. There isn't much in the way of original fittings, however good the pub looks from across the road, which is a shame, really, particularly as the place is blatant in hyping its heritage - Horace Walpole and Samuel Johnson were apparently former customers here. Still, if you're looking for traditional pubs, then this is still a pub, regardless of the internal changes that may have taken place. Of course, it does get full when there's any kind of legal activity across the road in the Royal Courts of Justice - and you never know who might be in here with their brief taking that shot of courage or celebrating/commiserating - but out of hours, it's proving to be quite a nice pub. They've also got sport on the big tellies, which may intrude on conversation it there's a bit match on, but it wasn't too intrusive the night we were in.

Popped in for a quick lager having been in the RCJ, as the reviewer had suggested might be the case (no pun intended) for many of its visitors. Lots small tables in there, quite snuggish. Feels traditional. Liked it.
