picture of Printers DevilUnder the management of Punch Taverns now, this one's been refurbed within an inch of its life. It's no longer the grotty pub of yesteryear when Fleet Street was inhabited by hacks and the people who printed all the newspapers in London, and journalists spent more time in the pub than in the office. Sadly, any of that history is gone from this pub, leaving an unremarkable bar with stripped floors and identikit bar furniture from that warehouse somewhere in East London - it's a bit soulless now, though they are trying. It's not all bad, though, as the beer's well kept, with Deuchars IPA on last time we were in. The food looks good, if a trifle expensive to eat in (they do take away, though we didn't see anyone doing this at lunchtime); they claim to do the best cheeseburger in the City, which we'll have to try out when we get the chance. It's quiet enough of a lunchtime, so if you want to escape from more crowded environs nearby. As it's only been open a short time, we will keep an eye on this one.
