how to find it:

Leave Covent Garden tube, turn right along Long Acre and take the next left up Neal Street. The pub is just up the road on your right at the corner with Shelton Street.

The Crown and Anchor corner edifice juts out like prow of a ship into the waves of people flooding Covent Garden. The loud, crowded ground floor area is your standard upscale pub refit. The secret is the quiet, spacious bar upstairs - a great spot for people watching. Its large windows look down on a mixing-bowl pedestrian area formed by the convergence of Neal, Earlham and Shelton Streets. Grab a pint and a window seat and watch retro fans from Doc Martens and Rockit Vintage shops, bargain hunters from the Covent Garden Market, theatregoers from Leicester Square and tourists from everywhere ebb and flow below you. This unique vantage point is the only thing saving the Crown and Anchor from being another cookie-cutter tourist trap.
