how to find it:

Notting Hill Gate: Leave the station by the exit for Portobello Road and proceed down Pembridge Road until you get to Portobello Road. Head down Portobello Road and it's about 6-8 minutes walk on the left. Ladbroke Grove: Cross the road and turn right. When you reach Elgin Crescent, turn left until you reach Portobello Road. Pub is on the left on the corner.

Handy for the Electric Cinema, this place was one of the earlier pubs round here to get the bar treatment. Now decorated in bohemian chic, it attracts a certain clientele from the local community, but doesn't seem to cater for the market traders any longer. And at these prices, it's not surprising. Over £5 a pint for a Weissbier is exorbitant in a hotel, much less in a bar on the Portobello road - we had to check and see if we'd been mugged when we left, as our wallets were that much lighter. The Bombardier was still on - probably as a way to stop the whinging at the prices for everything else. The Ground Floor is typical of the genre - with it's squashy settees, laid-back tunes and smug clientele, so if that's your scene, you'll be happy here, if you're into beer you'll need to look for an alternative.
