how to find it:

From Woodside Park tube, walk East up Woodside Park road until you reach the High Street, at which point, turn left. The pub is a few minutes walk along, on the left.

picture of Malt and HopsMalt & Hops, along with the Elephant's Head, is the closest thing to a proper pub around these parts. It even looks like a pub, having once been a coaching inn, rather than popping up as a shop conversion. There's a pool table, big screen sports and lager aplenty, which makes this pub a rather blokey proposition. That said, a beer garden (complete with boules, if you ask nicely) can provide respite if the football is on. There are a couple of reasonably kept ales, a pool table and a generally good-natured atmosphere. Even though, in the overall scheme of things, it's somewhat unexceptional, the lack of good alternatives means this is one of the best pubs in the area.
