The review is wrong - the Queens Head pre-dates the Markham as a gay venue by many years - it was even gay during the war - and thus is one of the oldest in London.
The Markham (now the Abbey National building society) only came into existence in the 70s and went at the end of the 80s. The QH had it's heyday in the 80s when it was the place to be on Sunday lunchtimes and after work.
However, changes in the licensing laws and the growth of Soho as a gay area has meant that the QH is now more of a gay-friendly pub today - especially during the early evening when shop-girls and estate agents from Foxtons nearby predominate.posted by barry - Thursday 20th September, 2007, 2:19am
This was my parents pub, Len & Joan Love, 1952 to 1973. Was gay even in those days. From picture its not changed a bit. Great...cheers to you all2 comments on this pub - why not add your own?
