The Fleet Street area has quite a bevy of decent pubs that have not yet fully succumbed to the All Bar One invasion. There are places like the Olde Cheshire Cheese to siphon off the tourists and trendier places such as Shaw's and the Evangelist for the young crowd. That leaves this little local secret for the aficionado. There's a tiny wood panelled front bar that wouldn't look out of place in an Ealing Comedy. Decently kept beers and we've heard excellent things about the food. The place never gets too busy but caters well for its locals. Only one (slight) downside for us: the rather harsh lighting. Such a cosy little pub deserves something a bit softer.
