Like many a rejigged pub in the square mile, this one goes for the All Bar One feel of comfortable furnishings and decent food and drink. Where this one differs is the stylish touches - not too many A.B.O.s house busts of Shakespeare or are decorated with chandeliers and candelabras. You'll probably take a while to notice them however, as the eye is first attracted to the large cityscape mural on the wall (not sure its apocalyptic reds and yellows add much to the ambience though). If the sight of it drives you to drink, you should be well catered for: most noticeable are a couple of decent Adnam's and Ridley beers on tap. As for food, things are kept simple with tried and tested pub grub standards. There's a jukebox to snaffle up your loose change and enough screens to cater for the sports fans. Different in feel and atmosphere to its namesake over on Folgate Street, this is one of the better City orientated pubs in this stretch.
