This place is a pure gem, we visited on a Sunday afternoon and the drag queen Bette was fabulous and so friendky, this is a really warm and friendly place indeed and we stayed all day finally staggering out after the second drag queen show, Jeff Kristian, the staff were pleasant nd helpful and they mixed me a mean Bloody Mary.
A liitle gem in the vustling streets of Soho, we will be returning to this place on our next visit to London.posted by rhymeswithorange - Tuesday 4th December, 2007, 4:22pm
This review borders on the offensive. Not only by it's conclusion about the clientele "hardened drinkers" but by the evident omissions. Either the reviewer is blind or bigoted and keen to downplay the fact.
The Moggs is a friendly pub. More OBVIOUSLY it is a gay pub, and has been for the longest time, certainly when this review was written. Perhaps his guide dog wrote it for him.
More of note to people looking for an actual *review*:-
On the surface a gay pub, but not flaming, and very straight-friendly. Amenable to tourists and casual drinkers alike. Has entertainment some nights, on the smallest stage in London (about the size of a fireplace with a gland condition). So if you're offended by transvestite bawdy humour probably not for you. Average to above average stock, has at least one Weissbier (works for me). Much improved decor, practically elegant, except for the tongue-in-cheek (careful...) gold statuettes around the stage.
Could be cheaper. The wrong side of average central London prices. But it is definitely a pub with an atmosphere and a cosy nature. A snug without a pub.2 comments on this pub - why not add your own?
