picture of PorcupineThe main function of the Porcupine seems to be a default destination for those who aren't sure where to go in the West End. So be prepared to mix with tourists drinking half a lager and weekenders using the pub as a pre-club warm-up spot. At certain times it gets staggeringly busy. Decoration wise, it's not a bad place and if you like people-watching, you'll like its location right outside Leicester Square tube. There's also an upstairs bar, but, as is often the case with upstairs rooms, although it is more comfortable and less hectic, it has limited opening hours compared to the rest of the pub. However, what marks this down as a one pinter rather than a two pint pub is the utterly terrible service - slow and rude behaviour from staff who appeared not to give a damn. It might not be the greatest pub to work in, what with its transient clientele, but there was no excuse for some of the staff's behaviour we witnessed. Shame.
