picture of Perseverance
We can only assume the makeover of the Perseverance was to designed to attract the influx of heavily indebted twenty and thirty somethings who now call Dalston (sorry, Islington) their home. Consequently the old traditional looking boozer went, replaced instead by a stripped out affair, with a gastro type exterior and fresh coffee served all day. But don't get the wrong impression - this is still the old man boozer it always was, just now sparsely decorated instead. Despite jolly service, drinking here was pretty depressing, with a vague air of hopelessness. Notwithstanding the abusive drunk old man, you can imagine if you came here enough you might get on first name terms with some of the regulars. We'll leave it up to you to decide if this is something you're after.

Well the photgraph cirtanly does not do this pub justice. I recently moved close to the perseverance (just accross the road actually) and after the move took the removal men for a well earned pint. I walked throught the door and WOW to say the least, the smell of fresh coffee and the atmosphere was like comming home. I was greeted by who I thought was the landlady Carol (who I have since found out she is the guvonors mother)and we hit it off like ahouse on fire. the pub benifits from many attributes like Sky tv and loads of them you can see the football or what evers on the screens from where ever your standing, 2 pool tables and regualr Disco and Karaoke nights (you have to hear Johns rendition of Achy breaky heart!) the dj's Phil & Tony make the dance floor sizzle and the clientel are wonderful - thank you all the staff at the perseverance for making me so welcome and glad to live so local to a wonderful pub!
only one comment, so far on this pub - why not add your own?
