picture of Lord John RussellThe Lord John Russell is a pub with few pretensions, other than to be a no-nonsense locals' boozer. It's quite small and bright with large picture windows on two sides. It has a few tables outside too - although you may well find yourself sitting alongside the bins. There is a good range of drinks on tap (Wadworth 6X, Deuchars and John Smith Barrel were on last time we were in) and the lunchtime food is of a decent quality and reasonably priced. We've had some varied service in this one over the years, but when we last looked in, the quality of drink, range of punters and relaxed feel of the pub all added up to a decent experience. One to go a little out of the way for.
