picture of William IV
A Friday night at the William IV is quite often a busy, bustling, loud affair. There are happening tunes played at the usual Friday night volume for the benefit of the young trendy local clientele, the lighting is suitably dimmed and the atmosphere is friendly and laid back. Drinks are average London prices, with a choice of beers on the hand pumps - the Dawlish Ale was very nice when we were in last. The food is Tapas and is original and tasty, however eaters are urged to confine themselves to the brightly lit, quiet back room making this a pub of two halves. It does have outdoor seating for the summer, and plenty of evening activities during the week. It's settled in now and obviously has a regular clientele, but it does seem that it's trying a bit too hard at times. Still worth visiting if you're in the area.

Of all the gastro-type bars and pubs in the area (and there are a lot), the William is my favourite. It has a relaxed atmosphere and isnt a chain pub, which has to be a bonus! The beer is good, the wine is really good and the tapas is a refreshing diversion from the ubiquitous boil-in-the-bag bangers and mash that is on every other menu. This is the place that i recommend to anyone who asks me for a good night out in west london, and i advise you to check it out.
